IT'S A HOLIDAY

Today August 15,is a holiday here in Italy. We usually called it Ferragosto. Italians (also the Catholic Church) celebrates this date as it commemorates the death of Mary and her bodily assumption into Heaven (before her body could begin to decay--a foretaste of our own bodily resurrection at the end of time). Therefore, it signifies the Blessed Virgin's passing into eternal life. It is the most important of all Marian feasts and a holy day of obligation.

Here in Italy, almost the entire month of August was taken as a holiday and leisure time in honor of this feast day. Ferragosto is mainly a short holiday when Italians take brief vacations.

But for us, we just stayed at home. Since we know, that there will be a lot of traffic on the road today. To celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, me and my husband went to church to attend the mass.

But I know that it was my fault because I didn't updated my blogs for a long time. One problem that I have right now is, my 2 other blogs. I can't check the PR of my other blogs. It tells N/A. The weather was very cold and that's the reason why, I got sick... I started to have a flu and cough and then it goes to influenza. I've been in to bed for almost 3 days. And I didn't go out for almost one week. Now, I'm a little bit okay. The weather is okay too, because it's sunny day since Saturday. I hope that this will be the start of no more snow...:-)

This morning we received a call coming from Agnese, the woman who is taking care of my mother in-law's sister (Auntie Neida) and his husband (Uncle Carlo). That's the reason why, Agnese is the one who takes care of them. My husband was the one who talked to Agnese and Agnese told that last week when Uncle Carlo can still talked, he told that if there is something happened, Agnese will call my mother in-law. My husband told to Agnese that, if ever something happened, my mother in-law can't go there since she is old already to travel. Aside from that, there is also my father in-law who is not feeling well. When they finished talking, my husband told me that if something happened in Ostia, he will go there. Trip To Rome

Last Sunday, I went to Rome to meet a friend of mine and to get the package that my mom sent to me. My friend and I were about to meet at Roma Termini at 10:24 but the train was late for 30 minutes. When I reached the terminal, my friend called me telling that he was not yet arrive because he delivered some package. So, I waited there for about 15 minutes and while waiting I roamed around the terminal. Well, the termina in Rome was very big. In fact, yesterday, you could see a lot of strangers. Some of them were sitting on the floor while waiting for their train. When my friend arrived we went to some international store near the terminal to buy some Filipino foods. I bought some noodles, bagoong and junk foods. Then, after that, we went to their appartment. I ate a lunch in their appartment and I enjoyed eating because his sister cooked dinengdeng. Then, I ate also a tinupig (a native food in Pangasinan). I stayed in their apartment for more than 4 hours talking to his sister. I could say that, meeting a fellow Laoacanians gave me a great feeling especially if I never meet anyone here in Fabriano. I just hope that I could visit them again someday...:-)

I mentioned before here in my blog that me and my husband are planning to lose weight. One of the ways that we are doing is to take some walk. Last Saturday, we took a walk at San Silvestro. We walked in this very nice place for about 3 hours. Of course, it was a long walk so we felt a little tired when we went back to the house. But eventhough, we felt a little pain in our body, we still decided to go out the following day (Sunday), to take a walk again. We went to take a walk in one of the mountains near the house. We walked around the mountains for more than 2 hours. And we enjoyed walking there because you could see a lot of beautiful sceneries. Our next walk (according to what we agreed) will be tomorrow, since today, my husband go to the office early and I don't want to walk alone...:-)

This morning, I was surprised when one of the nurses who visited my father in-law told that Michael Jackson died. I even asked the nurse if it's really true because I can't believed that the King of Pop died and the nurse answered that she watched the early news this morning and one of the headlines of the news is about his death. Then, to verify it again, I opened the computer to read the news about him. I felt very sad about his death. He was one of the best and great singer that we have in the world. In fact, I admire him very much. As a singer and a performer. I like his songs and I like the way he moved on the stage everytime he performs while singing his songs. I know that a lot of people will missed him. Because he gave us great songs with a feel-good message, that everytime we heard that songs we lifts us up.

Today is holiday here in Fabriano. They are celebrating the San Giovanni Battista Day which is the town's patron Saint. In preparation in today's event, the Fabrianese held different kinds of activities which they called as Palio and it started last June 13 up to June 24. There were lots of fun and excitement. One of the activities was the Infiorate which I will feature here one of these days. Anyway, my husband and I witnessed the opening of the Palio which was held in Piazza del Comune.
